Mathematical Connection
In my project, the Rubik's Cube, it is necessary to use algorithms, even people who don't know they are using them by just solving the cube with luck are using those algorithms.
Of course, there is a really long explanation and equation that explains how the cube works, but scientists have been working on figuring out how many steps it takes to solve to cube for 35 years. It is 20 steps. And even for them now it is hard to explain that way of solving the cube, so what I am doing in my project is explaining the easiest way to solve the cube. Which is necessary to know to go on the harder and faster ways how to solve the cube. So I am using the algorithms as my math, to explain to the people who come by how the basic steps of the cube work and how to go on from there, because just a little view and understanding of the cube helps people get closer to the Rubik's Cube and seeing more understanding in this object that is for many people just a riddle they have never really looked closer at because they couldn't explain themselves how this should ever work.
So using a simple math, will bring the viewer father than the hard math which is almost impossible to explain or do because it was found out by computers and is still mostly solved only by computers.

Personal Connection
I chose this project, because I have been solving the Rubik's cube for about a year now, and I remember in the really beginning me, trying to figure out how this should work, and it took me quite a while to figure out how to solve it, but know I can solve it whenever I want to, and I can also explain how it works to other people, which is so much easier than trying to figure it out by yourself with just these equations on a paper. And before I was able to solve this cube, I was always curious how people did it and I was sitting there for a long time just playing with it, not knowing how to solve it, but wanting to know how?!
The Cube always was something for me I couldn’t understand and it was so interesting to me because it seemed so hard, but know it is like an open book to me.
And just giving this first view to somebody else, to make them see that it is really not that hard, is something everybody needs, or the only thing it needs to actually see how this could work, stay interested and solve it at home.

Rubik’s Cube

1. Step: Cross on Top
-Look for the side-pieces and move them up so they match with the color you started with and the other middle stone
- Right position of the stone but flipped: Fi; U; Li; Ui

2. Step: Corner Pieces
- Look for the right piece, with the right colors, and move the corner under the position on the lowest row: Ri; Di; R; D
3. Repeat that step until the corner piece is in the right position.
I really enjoyed this ay of learning because we had to flip the little strips to get to the answers and this is kinda like learning new vocabulary. This way is really easy for me to learn new things.
This is a topic we just had lately and I did this inwith 10 minutes and this project was one of the first things I understodd right away and could solve it without help. I am really proud of that work.
