Convicted by Juries, Exonerated by Science
The four steps of DNA processing are Isolation, Amplification, Separation, Analysis. In Isolation cells are collected and a broken down by a lysis buffer. After that in amplification the isolated DNA is put in a PCR tube along with 2 primers, nucleotides and DNA polymerase. In separation a TBE buffer is poured over the fel to act as a conductive fluid and electricity is passed through the gel to separate DNA bands according to length. As soon as the DNA bands ran through the gel the "fingerprints" can be analyzed.
At these steps we looked in class before we started our actual project, to understand how people are exonerated through DNA testing.
We, Hannah Quick and me, based our Project on Freddie Peacock who got put in prison for first degree rape that he never committed. 20 years after he already has served his 5 and a half years in prison he got exonerated by DNA testing. With the pose, him kneeling on the ground with the justice system on his shoulders we tried to express his emotion. The weight of the justice system brings him down and destroys his life and he is trying to reach out for the DNA strand and put the weight on a pedestal.
I personally think that DNA testing helped a lot in clarifying cases where there isn't enough evidence. And people shouldn't be killed or put in prison if there is only as little evidence as an eyewitness.
I am pretty proud of the way we formed our sculpture an the way we presented it because thats the way I would feel about being put in prison and being innocent. "
I would probably redo our sculptor and make it more stable. But besides that I am pretty happy with what we ended up with in our Project.

Drink now, pay later
In this article it says that youth who are drinking while they are teens influences their desicions they make shortly after they drink and in the future. This study has been tested on animals like rats. They influenced alcohol into their system and observed their actions right after and in over a longer timeperiod. And the summary of this study is a sentence of Faber's Dean Wormer: "Drunk and stupid is no way to go thorugh life".

Life History: Males may live up to 20 years and females to 30 years. Males reach sexual maturity at 3-7 years but do not hold territories on breeding rookeries until 9-13 years. Females start breeding at 3-7 years and spend the next two decades either pregnant or lactating. Females are bred in June, but the fertilized egg does not implant until October. Single pups are born the following June, with birthdates at southern rookeries earlier than births at northern rookeries. Twins are rare. Pups suckle from 1 to 3 years, with most apparently weaning after their first winter
Purpose of my Biology Blog
I have a Biology Blog, to upload assignments we had to to at school or at home. With this Blog I can publish my work, so everybody can see it, also I can create my own Blog however I want to.
Project Reflection
- We were talking about the body in general in class, and that lead to this project. We started to focus on our inner body and its single systems it has in it.
- The purpose of this project was, that the class splits up in several groups and each group works together to get a final product, our website, and get experts in our topic.
- To decide who is doing what, for the final product, was decided before the actual project started, we were handed out a piece of paper where we could read on what each topic or each member has to do if he chose that topic. So we chose what we wanted to do and then we were put together in groups of about 4-5 with all different persons who were focusing on his own role to bring together the website with his teammades.
- My role was Creative Media 1. I was responsible for the research about how our system, nervous system, works, and after I did this, I had to produce a mini-project to represent what our system is doing.
- I'm proud of my mini-project, because this shows everything I have learned during this project. I would like to refine my project describtion more, bring more detailed information into it. I will ry in the next project to give the audience a more detailed view into the project, so they understand it the same way like I did without reading all the information I had to read to get the final product. I think it is relevant because this shows me what is going on inside of my body, and what is making me move and feel. I will take away a lot of things, I learned a lot about disection this year and also about our body, and what is inside of us, our blood and about deseases.
